No clean chit to Raj Thackeray: Deputy CM
Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil on Wednesday rubbished reports that the state government had given a clean chit to Raj Thackeray over his recent remarks against north Indians. “There is no question of giving clean chit when inquiry into the matter has not been completed. The Law and Judiciary Department is yet to give its opinion,” Patil said referring to reports that preliminary police inquiry has found nothing objectionable in Raj’s speech on Saturday last. “As per the procedure, the intelligence people analyse speech when it comes to Home department and then send to Law and Judiciary department,” said Patil. “Until this procedure is complete, it won’t be alright to say that clean chit has been given,” Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, added. Patil addressed a meeting of top police officials, including DCP A N Roy and Mumbai police commissioner Hassan Gafoor, to take stock of the Raj Thackeray issue in the backdrop of vociferous demand from several quarters for stringent action against MNS chief. |
